Part of The Met x Eichholtz collection, inspired by a pair of 17th century Spanish candlesticks in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The originals reflect the Severe style associated with the reign of King Philip II of Spain (1556 to 1598) and the construction of the royal monastery palace El Escorial.
