Historic provenance: reflects a French armchair from 1788 in The Met collection, one of 16 armchairs commissioned from the master chairmaker Georges Jacob (French, 1739 to 1814) for Louis XVI's gaming room at Saint Cloud, celebrating the neoclassical elegance and meticulous artisanship of Jacob's designs.
