Inspired by a Middle Kingdom relief (ca. 2061-2010 BCE) of King Nebhepetre Mentuhotep II and the goddess Hathor that once decorated the king's mortuary temple and tomb at Deir el-Bahri in western Thebes, now in The Met collection.
