Details: Crafted from sleek black veneer. The design follows an unpublished library table drawing from Thomas Chippendale's "Gentleman and Cabinet Maker's Director" and takes its cues from the tables in the Thomas J. Watson Library, the research library of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, which holds more than a million volumes along with extensive digital collections and online resources. The original drawing (ca. 1753-62) is by the British furniture maker Thomas Chippendale (1718 to 1779).
