Details
Crafted in a sophisticated black veneer as a museum-style plinth; part of The Met x Eichholtz collection. Historic provenance: inspired by a set of six marble columns crafted in Granada, Spain, between 1350 and 1400 and now in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The columns originally belonged to the Alhambra, the famed royal palace-city in Granada meaning the red one, after the red clay of its construction; their narrow form is characteristic of the Nasrid dynasty (1232 to 1492) and would have ornamented outdoor courtyards between palaces.
